Elected Chair of Governors September 2019

I became a school governor at St. Stephens in July 2017. I’ve been living in Droylsden for the past forty years and both of my children attended the school as does my granddaughter. I am a practising catholic and care very much about the parish and especially the school. I think that is because of my life experiences and working in my career and other public duties that I have a wealth of knowledge and experiences that I can bring to the governing body that hopefully will assist the head teacher in ensuring that the school meets its obligations and that the children enjoy a happy and rewarding educational experience

Catherine Lloyd – Vice Chair of Governors - Foundation Governor

I have very strong linkes with St Stephens School and Church, I am a past pupil myself and my children and grandchildren have all attended and I still have a grandchild in the school. I still live in the Parish and I am a practicing Catholic.

As a governor I want to see our children who attend St Stephens to be able to grow and learning, where they become confident members of society where each child is valued and to quote our headteacher Mr Lavin, where children will receive a world class education.

Helen Warrender – Foundation Governor

I have 2 daughters, my youngest is in KS2 at St Stephen's and my eldest left year 6 in 2020. I work in the public sector as a local government officer and my experience is in recruitment and payroll. I am genuinely passionate about our school so, in 2016, I put myself forward to be a foundation governor as I want to help and support the school, teachers and children in any way I can.

It’s important that our children learn in an environment where every child is valued and they get every opportunity to grow and develop so they can excel both academically and creatively and I believe this is something that all the teachers, senior leadership team and governors at St Stephen’s continuously strive to achieve.

Kelly Crompton-Roberts – Parent Governor

I have been a parent at St Stephen’s since September 2016 and a Parent Governor since 2017. I have a career in the public services as an operational manager but the position also allows me to work with ‘inspiring the future’ where I help to inspire young people to think about what is possible in their futures.

I want to use my knowledge and experiences to help support the school with its vision and values and ensure it continues on its path of continuous improvement whilst making sure every child has a happy and enriching educational experience.

Deborah Dempsey – Parent Governor

I have two daughters that attend St Stephen's. I believe that school is fundamental in developing well rounded children, not just academically but socially and emotionally too. Both of my children enjoy school and I am proud to say they attend St Stephen's.

I applied to be a Parent Governor as I have a keen interest in social mobility and believe every child should receive equal opportunities and receive a high standard of education regardless of where they are from. I am passionate about ensuring that all our children feel valued and have opportunities to reach their highest potential through their learning and extra-curricular activities.

I have worked in the Civil Service for the last 13 years and have worked at the Department for Education since 2017 where I am a Team Leader working to improve educational outcomes for children across the North West.

I believe in the school vision of becoming a world class school and want to support the school leadership team and all staff to achieve this vision.

Hannah Gibson – Staff Governor

My name is Hannah Gibson and I am the staff governor at Stephen's. I started working at St Stephen's in 2014 and I joined the senior leadership team and governing body in 2019. I have taught in key stage 2 for the duration of my time at St Stephen's however, I have worked in Early Years in a previous school. I am the Religious Education Lead at school and I am passionate about our faith and Gospel values being at the center of all we do at St Stephen's. I have a particular interest in curriculum and ensuring that the pupils in school have a broad and balanced curriculum.
