Faith Leaders
At St. Stephen’s RC Primary School, our children play an active and vital role in the leadership of our school community. Through various leadership teams, such as the Laudato Si’ Team, CARES Team (Chaplains), Mini Vinnies and Playground Peacemakers, our children are given the opportunity to develop essential skills, take responsibility, and make a positive impact.
Mini Vinnies
As Mini Vinnies, our role is to bring social justice to life within our school community. We focus on raising funds and awareness for social justice projects both locally and globally, always striving to make a tangible difference. Through our work, we lead the Catholic Social Teaching in school, inspiring our peers to live out Pope Francis’ call to be active participants in creating a more just world. We encourage everyone at St. Stephen’s to reflect on how we can live with compassion, support those in need, and take practical steps toward building a fairer society for all.
CARES Team (Chaplains)
The CARES Team is dedicated to leading Prayer and Liturgy within our school. We play an essential role in organising and leading whole-school collective worship and special events marking significant saints’ feast days. Our team has worked hard to create sacred spaces around the school, offering areas for spontaneous prayer and quiet reflection. We also plan and host Stay & Pray events throughout the liturgical calendar, ensuring that our school community has the opportunity to grow closer to God in prayer and worship.
Laudato Si’ Team
Inspired by Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’, our team is dedicated to promoting the care of our common home—God’s creation. We lead initiatives to make our school environment more sustainable and eco-friendly, encouraging everyone to take responsibility for the planet. Our mission is to inspire our fellow children to be responsible caretakers of the world around them and to live in harmony with God’s creation.
Playground Peacemakers
As our newly formed group, Playground Peacemakers, we are a group of children who will volunteer every day to support the younger members of our school community. We will lead playtime activities, teach games, and provide a listening ear to those who are feeling upset or just want to have a chat! Our role also involves helping to resolve conflicts in a positive and constructive manner, promoting kindness and understanding among all children. Through our work, we will help to create a safe and caring environment where everyone can thrive, ensuring that every child at St. Stephen’s feels valued, supported, and at peace. Watch this space as we begin to start out work soon!
