The Scarecrow
Year 4 Poetry and Storytime with our Nursery Children
Children from Year 4 and Nursery gathered together to perform poetry and a story inspired by our outdoor allotment area.
The performance began with a poem,
“Ways to Change the World” by Matt Goodfellow.
Matt has visited our school and worked with both Key Stages.
It urges children to be the change they want to see.
In the story “The Scarecrow’s Hat” Emmeline, the new scarecrow at the allotment, keeps losing her hat and writes to the Nursery children to help find it.
Each time they come she asks them to do something to help save the bees. They have planted peas, beans, bulbs and built a Hibernation Hotel for bees and other insects.
