Welcome to Year 5!

We we welcome you to our page. We are looking forward to teaching your children this year and providing them with a wide range of learning opportunities and varied curriculum .

As Year 5 is an important year, in preparation for Year 6, our expectation will remain extremely high in terms of quality, quantity and presentation.

A key change this academic year is the uniform expectations. On PE days, your child is to come to school in their school PE kit which they will stay in for the entire day.

The Year 5 PE days this year fall on : Wednesday and Thursday.

Also, we are fortunate to have a skilled music teacher in school for the first term to teach your child a brass band instrument. 5LS will be having the first slot up until the end of the first half term. 5DM will then begin lessons after the break, up until the end of the Autumn term.

Daily home reading is really important this year and we will be monitoring the children’s home reading journals each day to ensure reading is being completed.

Homework will be set on a Friday and will consist of: Handwriting, Spelling and Arithmetic.
